INDUSTRIES VISITED:

Industry 1:Vikram Sarabhai Space Exhibition (VSSE)

    The Vikram Sarabhai Space Exhibition (VSSE) is a non-commercial exhibition located in the premises of Space Applications Centre (SAC), Ahmedabad. The exhibition is aimed at generating interest about science in the young minds and inspiring them to make a career in space industry . This center is dedicated to Sir Vikram Sarabhai for his contribution to the Space Research Program.

At the entrance, a model of satellite launcher GSLV-MK ||| is present. The exhibition has two floors and one 3D auditorium. The exhibits are divided into 15 different themes which are arranged in a specific sequence so as to help gain a better understanding of ISRO activities.

The travel operated established a visit on 2th   January 2020 to the exhibition. A 3D short film was shown in the auditorium about assembly of International Space Station (ISS)  produced by Lockheed Martin Ltd. The mechanism of launching of satellites were explained by the demonstrators through LED screen. The students got an insight of space suits, scale models of launcher, communication devices and other devices used for space applications which were displayed on floors.

Overall the visit to VSSE proved to be very enlightening for the students.

Industry 2: AMUL DAIRY                            

         The  Second Industry which we have visited was Amul Dairy    Headquarters.It is  located at Anand,Gujarat.It was  founded  in1946,74 years ago by  Tribhuvandas Patel along with the help of Dr. Verghese Kurien. Amul is a Indian Cooperative dairy country the world's largest producer of milk and milk products.We  entered  Amul  at almost 12 o clock .Before entering the Campus Gate we saw various shops of Amul outside .Different shop for each different product .Amul campus was quite big enough. There were various sections of Industry  located at different locations  Firstly we did a good lunch at Amul Canteen.Canteen served us a delicious food along with a tasty Buttermilk at last.

            After lunch we went to one of the section with our AMUL GUIDE .She showed us all the products which Amul produces and transports worldwide .She gave us good amount of knowledge about these products . We also saw Control Room Unit ,Quality testing Unit ,Packaging Unit and also different types of machines.When this was done Guide took us to 1st floor .It was BUTTER Manufacturing Unit .There we saw actual making of Butter!!From shaping the butter into cubes,packing it , Quality checking of it packing it into further big boxes we saw entire procedure.

              Overall the Huge Amul Industry was an Amazing Experience!!!

SIGHTSEENIG SPOTS VISITED:  Spot 1:AKSHARDHAM TEMPLE

          Swaminarayan Akshardham in Gandhinagar, Gujarat is a large Hindu temple.It was created by Pramukh Swami Maharaj (1921-2016), the fifth spiritual successor of Swaminarayan . Located in the capital of Gujarat, the complex was built over 13 years and is a tribute to Swaminarayan and his life and teachings.At the center of the 23-acre complex is the Akshardham mandir, which is built from 6,000 metric tons of pink sandstone from Rajasthan.

               It is one of the biggest Swaminarayan temple in India .It has large campus which also include a well maintaned Garden.Trees included in garden were given a different shapes .The main akshardham temple has  97 carved pillars, 17 domes, 8 balconies, 220 stone beams and 264 sculpted figures.The mandir's central chamber houses a seven-foot-tall, gold-leafed murti, or sacred image, of Swaminarayan, who is worshipped by followers as God.                

 Spot 2:Statue Of Unity

The Statue of Unity is colossal statue of Indian statesman and independence activist Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (1875–1950). It is located in the state of Gujarat, India. It is the world's tallest statue with a height of (597 ft) 182 metres. It is located on a river facing the Sardar Sarovar Dam on river Narmada.It was designed by Indian sculptor Ram V. Sutar, and was inaugurated by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 31 October 2018, the 143rd birth anniversary of Patel. The statue signifies India’s growing strength on the world stage and is also an excellent representation of the country’s historic, cultural and spiritual values. The visit to Statue of Unity mesmerized us.

Spot 3:SABARMATI ASHRAM

              Sabarmati ashram also known as Gandhi Ashram is located at Sabarmati suburb of Ahmedabad on the banks of river Sabarmati.This was one of the main residence of Mahatma Gandhi.It was from his base here that Gandhi led the Dandi march also known as the Salt Satyagraha on 12 March 1930 . The ashram now has a museum, the Gandhi Smarak Sangrahalaya.

           Firstly we saw the Museum.It covers whole history of Mahatma Gandhi as well as Sabarmati Ashram. Every important Quote's and sayings of Gandhiji were highlighted .It also has some small sculptures and paintings regarding Gandhiji and their Independence movement.After this we went to Sabarmati River .The clean river was sending us some positive and peaceful vibes .Sitting infront of such peaceful and clean river was one of the best experience .

Lastly we went to the Gandhiji's House .We saw the Gandhjis room, their 'Charkha',their Kitchen, their Things that they were using ,their wife Kasturbha Gandhi's room and  the surronding.One lady showed us how threads are pulled out from cotton to make clothes using Charkha.

 Spot 4:Adalaj Stepwell:

Adalaj Stepwell or Rudabai Stepwell is a stepwell located in the village of Adalaj, close to Ahmedabad city and in gandhinagar district in the state of Gujarat. It was built in 1498 in the memory of Rana Veer Singh (the Vaghela dynasty of Dandai Des), by his wife Queen Rudadevi. It is a fine example of Indian architecture work.

Step wells like the one in Adalaj were once integral to the semi-arid regions of Gujarat, as they provided water for drinking, washing and bathing. These wells were also venues for colourful festivals and sacred rituals.Stepwells, also called stepped ponds, built between the 5th and 19th centuries, are common in Western India; over 120 such wells are reported in the semi-arid region of Gujarat alone, of which the well at Adalaj is one of the most popular.

Built in sandstone in the Solanki architectural style, the Adalaj stepwell is five stories deep. It is octagonal in plan at the top, built on intricately carved large number of pillarsThis mesmerising place was planned for a visit on, 4th January 2020. It is a 5 floor stepwell and it’s architecture is just way beyond amazing. The students enjoyed themselves and had a good time at the stepwell. They clicked many pictures and the chilled weather only added to the pleasing experience.

Spot 5:Kankaria Lake:

Kankaria Lake is the largest lake in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. It is located in the south-eastern part of the city, in the Maninagar area. It was completed in 1451 during the reign of Sultan Qutb-ud-Din Ahmad Shah II though its origin is placed in the Chaulukya period sometimes. A lakefront is developed around it, which has many public attractions such as a zoo, toy train, kids city, tethered balloon ride, water rides, water park, food stalls, and entertainment facilities. The lakefront was revamped in 2007―2008. Kankaria Carnival is a week-long festival held here in the last week of December. Many cultural, art, and social activities are organised during the carnival.

The reservoir is a 34-sided regular polygon covering an area of 76 acres and having a shore length of approximately one and a quarter mile, or 2 km.[5] It is surrounded by flights of cut stone steps and in six places, slopes, giving access to the water. These slopes were covered by square cupolas, each raised on 12 pillars.Our students reached kankaria lake around evening. Since it was already chilled, being at the lake made it even more pleasant. Our students enjoyed many attractions such as boating, speed boating, cycling etc. They spent a good 2-3 hours at the lake. Later on, everyone headed to the hotel Regenta Inn.

After dinner at our hotel, we headed to the Ahmedabad railway station and boarded our train: Duronto Express at 11:55pm. We reached Mumbai Central at 6:00am and everyone went back home safely.

Latex, a document preparation system, is widely used for publishing in many scientific fields like mathematics, statistics, computer science, engineering, chemistry, physics etc. It is a powerful and open-source system that provides numerous facilities for automating typesetting of the document: The talk introduces the basic concepts of Latex. Participants will be able to create and design documents in Latex and presentations in Beamer. The talk covered the following topics:

•  Introduction to Latex,
• Software installation, different IDEs, and online platforms.
• Handle different types of documents (scientific papers, Thesis, and PPT)
• Organize documents into different sections, subsections, etc.
• Formatting pages and text
• Writing complex mathematical formulae
• Include tables and images in the document
• Cross-referencing, bibliography, and Indexing
• Create presentations using Beamer

Online Faculty Development Program (FDP) was organized and conducted by Electronics Engineering Department in association with VESIT-IIC from 25th May to 30th May 2020.

FDP theme - “Opportunities and Challenges in Electronics and Allied Industries in India post-COVID 19”.

One hundred seventy-five Student Solar Ambassadors of V.E.S. Institute of Technology (VESIT), Mumbai assembled solar study lamps on 2nd October 2019, the 150 birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.The Workshop focused on sensitization of over 1 million Students globally towards adverse effects of climate change and making them future Ambassadors of Renewable energy was organized by Department of Electronics Engineering, VESIT in association with IIT Bombay & Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE). 

The required electronics components, solar panels and assembly parts are provided to the students during the workshop.  Students assembled and tested all the components to make solar study lamps under the supervision of trainers.

Dr. Kushal Tuckley (IIT-Bombay), Mr. S.Y. Kulkarni (Ex-Scientist, SAMEER), Mr. Prasad Rao (Member DAB. VESIT) were the keynote speakers for the workshop. They created awareness about solar energy as a renewable resource, usage, and practical applications and effects of global warming.  Shri. B. L. Boolani (President, VES), and VES trustees Dr. Prakash Lulla and Shri. Vijay Talreja encouraged the students to spread the usage of Renewable Energy globally. Dr. J.M Nair (principal) and M.Vijayalaxmi (Vice principal) along with the entire assembly Pledged for Non-Violence to the Environment.

A team of 12 certified trainers helped the students for assembling the solar study lamps. The 12 mentors were required to attend a video course designed by IITB & had to pass in 9 Quiz with an passing percentage of 80% . All 12 trainers scored more than 90% in the quiz to get IITB certification. The Team included Dr.P.Birajdar, Mr.Abhijit Shete ,Mr. Prasad Godse, Dr.Asawari Dudwadkar, Mr. Yogesh Pandit, Mrs. Dipti Karani, Mrs. Amrita Jhaveri, Ms Nikita Ramrakhiyani, Mrs.Kavita Rathi , Mr. Kashi, Mr. Chandrashekhar Jawle & Mr. Vishwakarma.

The event was coordinated by Dr. Parmeshwar Birajdar, Dr. Asawari Dudwadkar, Prof. Abhijit Shete and Prof. YogeshPandit under the guidance of HOD Prof. Kavita Tewari. After successful completion of solar study lamp workshop, they had to write a 20 min Test using the lamps assembled by them , later all students & mentors assembled on 2nd floor  to glow their lamps simultaneously for a group picture to mark the successful completion of Solar Student Ambassador Workshop event and be global solar –renewable Energy ambassadors in future

To celebrate International Women’s Day, Energy Swaraj Foundation - IIT Bombay had invited corporations to empower women employees to search #DurgaWithin through solar training programme.

Under the campaign, women employees were given hands-on training in assembling a solar study with utmost zeal and enthusiasm.
