Department of Automation & Robotics(Formerly known as Department of Instrumentation) is celebrating Alumni meet on 21st December 2024  from 9.00 A.M. to 3.00 P.M at VESIT Auditorium. Let’s make this event as special as the bonds we created during our college days!

This session will take you through the bylanes of Al and ML and its pertinence vis-a-vis software industry and beyond.

The Orientation Program for Second year students of Instrumentation Engineering branch named “Awareness about your department”, was conducted on 18 th September 2021, at 11.30 am. The program started with the students being oriented about the Highlights of the department, its best practices and achievements. Students were informed that VESIT was the first private engineering college under University of Mumbai to start B. E. Instrumentation engineering to cater to the demands of the industry. It was also informed that the Instrumentation branch at VESIT has been NBA accreditated for two cycles of three years till 2022.
Under the highlights of the department, the students were briefed and shown photographs about the state of art lab facilities such as transducers, process instrumentation and PLC-DCS lab. They were also informed about the various hardware and software facilities available in the department and how students could make best use of them.
Students were also informed about the NI LabView Academy and AIA Competency Development Centre under which certificate courses are being conducted for the students under the expertise of industry veterans and VESIT faculty members.
Information regarding research funding and projects undertaken by previous batch students of Instrumentation engineering as well as the various prizes won by them at national level competitions were also shown to the students to motivate them to undertake good quality projects. Students were also informed in brief about the professional society and the various
opportunities available under it, for them to explore.
In addition, the program also briefed the students about the various best practices at VESIT such as Looking Beyond Syllabus projects, internships, industrial visits, skill enhancement lectures, alumni interactions and Finishing school, which help students in their overall growth and career prospects.
Finally, students were informed about the good placement opportunities at Instrumentation department of VESIT in core and non-core companies. They were also assured that they have made a wise decision in choosing VESIT Instrumentation engineering, with the abundant opportunities available to them in their way forward.

The electric vehicle industry is a growing industry in India. The central and state governments have launched
schemes and incentives to promote electric mobility in the country and some regulations and standards are also
in place. Electric vehicles are the future of transportation. Electric mobility has become an essential part of the
energy transition and will imply significant changes for vehicle manufacturers, governments, companies, and
individuals. There are challenges like lack of charging infrastructure, high initial cost, and lack of electricity
produced from renewable energy. Still, e-commerce companies, car manufacturers, app-based transportation
network companies, and mobility solution providers have entered the sector and are slowly building up electric
car capacity and visibility. Also, Electric Vehicles (EV) are one of the growing popular options for people who
are conscious about environmental pollution, global warming, and health issues. The global share of Electric
vehicles will increase from 2% in 2020 to 22% in 2030.
The ability to deliver the technical information of this major area to the right audience at the right time is a
valuable skill. This Faculty Development Program (FDP) is designed to enrich and augment the knowledge of
the participants and provide a basic platform to carry out research in these fields which will further bolster the
development of the country.
Objective:
Electric Vehicles have completely different systems & architecture compared to the petrol or diesel vehicles. EV
is a very complicated system than ICVs. The key objective of this faculty development program is the
dissemination of the technical skills and knowledge in the concerned field among academicians and researchers
and thereby reforming our nation to adapt itself to the new era of vehicular transportation by its own developed
skills. This training program intends to impart a broad theoretical, practical, and design background in the area of
Electrical Vehicles. It investigates the vivid opportunities available in EV sector, that one needs to have a deeper
understanding of the system- its opportunities, challenges and benefits, industrial perspectives, issues and trends
in EV Protection schemes, Electric Vehicle Charging infrastructures and Magnetics Design etc.

About VES Society
Vivekanand Education Society was founded in 1959 by Shri. Hashu Advani, along with ten other members, who shared
the dream of providing qualitative education to the youth of our country. In the beginning, Vivekanand Education
Society had a very modest launch, with just 256 students and six classrooms, in the humble barracks of Chembur
Camp. But today, it proudly boasts of having 3, 75, 000 sq.ft. land, housing 12 buildings and 28 Institutions, ranging
from the creche to Ph.D. Centres. It has over 2000 teaching and non-teaching staff, and more than 18,000 students

About VESIT RENAISSANCE CELL
VESIT RENAISSANCE CELL also known as VRC was established in the year 2015-16. VRC is the brainchild of our
Principal Dr. J.M. Nair. She came up with the idea of having "young leaders" as an intermediate layer of workforce.
She picked up few members from all departments. We are a team of eleven members. To fulfill objectives of VRC
different activities were started. Project-based learning and skill development activities give real growth to our goals.

Online STTP 

On Green Internet of Things

Department of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering in collaboration with Department of  Instrumentation Engineering and Department of Electronics Engineering organized AICTE Sponsored Online STTP Green Internet of Things –Phase III from 7th to 12th December 2020.

The objective of this STTP is to acquaint academicians and industry personnel with the IoT technology, recent trends and green initiatives, providing exposure to technologies supporting Green IoT, hardware and software development tools and demonstrations, predictive analysis using IoT, security in IoT.

Instru-international talk series was an interactive talk series organized by the department of Instrumentation in association with VESIT-IQAC and VESIT-IIC. This 6 day talk series from 7th september 2020 to 12th september 2020 covered a wide array of topics like machine learning, silicon designing and career prospects in fields such as biomedical engineering ,sales and marketing, from International Experts and Alumni. 

The first session of the Instru- International Talk Series was kickstarted on the topic of Machine Learning and how to get a job in it on 7th September 2020 at 09:00AM. In this session our alumnus from 2013 batch of Instrumentation Branch, Mr.Tanvir Shaikh currently working as a Lead Data Scientist at the Finance Department, Genentech/ Roche, USA presented us with a very informative Session on Machine Learning and how we can get jobs related to Machine Learning. He gave us a basic overview on how Machine Learning works in an easy to understand way and also told how it can do different things/ outcomes and also predict future outcomes. 

The second session was based on the topic of Introduction to Silicon Design Process From Thought to Chip on 8th September 2020 at 09:00AM. This session was addressed by Mr. Avinash Somanathan from the 2015 batch of Instrumentation Branch. Mr. Avinash currently works at Samsung Electronics as a GPU Physical Design Engineer. In this session he explained how a chip is made from thought to a final working device very beautifully. He explained the thought process behind the design and making of the chip be it a Microcontroller or a Microprocessor or even a Processor.

The third session was based on the topic of Sales & Marketing in the Field of Instrumentation on 9th September 2020 at 09:00AM. This session was addressed by Mr. Pranit Kotgire from the 2018 batch of Instrumentation Branch. Mr. Pranit currently works with Crystal International Technology located in Oman as a Technical Sales Engineer. In this session, he explained how Sales and Marketing can be a lucrative career option and how we can make a switch to Sales and Marketing if we want to. 

The fourth session was based on the topic of Discussion or Chat with a Department Alumnus on 9th September 2020 at 02:30PM. This session was addressed by Mr. Ganesh R. Rapelli from the 1999 batch of Instrumentation Branch. Mr. Ganesh currently works as R&D Product Manager at ABB Ability Innovation Center located at Bangalore, India. In this session he had a talk/ discussion with the students covering topics like tips and tricks to get placed in campus placement, suggestions regarding higher studies, etc. 

The fifth session was based on the topic of Augmented Reality and Mobile Solutions for Field Operators on 10th September 2020 at 02:30PM. This session was addressed by Dr. Zied M. Ouertani who is Global Technology Manager, Chemicals and Refining,Energy Industries in ABB,Frankfurt,Germany. This innovative session focused on AFP or Augmented field procedures, an innovative “ABB Ability” based Digital Solution that is devised for improving safety, reducing unscheduled downtime and increasing operational efficiency. 

The sixth session was based on the topic of Engineer your career on 11th September 2020 at 09:00AM. This session was addressed by our alumnus Mr. Sriram Viswanathan who is a software Engineer, Robotics & Digital Solutions in Verb Surgical,United states of America. This session consisted of technical information as well as his personal experience in the field of Robotics & Digital Solutions as a software engineer. He also shared information about his work which applies knowledge of robotics in the field of surgery. 

Last session was based on the topic of From Instrumentation to Biomedical on 12th September 2020 at 09:00AM. This session was addressed by our alumnus Ms. Radhika Mujumdar who is a Biomedical Research Engineer at University of Buffalo, United states of America.This innovative session consisted of A brief discussion on job prospects, research, opportunities and challenges when considering a career in Biomedical Engineering. 

Each session was concluded with interactive questions and answers sessions with attendees where participants' doubts and questions were addressed in brief followed by a vote of thanks. 

B.E. Project Exhibition 2020 

There was a Project Exhibition Event conducted for the SE and TE instrumentation students, wherein the B.E. students of the 2019-20 batch showcased their projects. The projects were well appreciated by the second and third year students. Second year students got to know what kind of projects are carried out in the Final Year by the students and how they are being executed. Similarly the Third Year students found some inspiration and ideas to carry out their projects. Overall the event was a success and that the students learnt and gained knowledge from their seniors.

VESIT-VERTIV TECH CONNECT

VESIT, in association with VERTIV INDIA, hosted an event for Instrumentation, Electronics,
and Electronics and Telecommunication Department students on August 29, 2019.
Dr. J.M. Nair, principal madam, gave a warm welcoming message, which was followed by a few
motivating words from VES Trustee,Shri Boolani.
Mr. Sunil Khanna, Managing Director of VERTIV INDIA, was the first speaker of the day,
speaking on Industry India Interface. He enthused the students about the need for reform in the
educational system, as well as the importance of cultivating courage and thinking creatively. The
chief guest, Mr Salil Dalal, Chief Operating Officer Pidilite Industries ltd, gave an encouraging
address after that.
The second session was conducted by Mr.Shrirang Deshpande, Senior Director at Datacenter.
The second speaker was Mr Abhimanyu Sikarwar who worked with Fortune 500 companies
and has held a variety of roles in areas of innovation, marketing and network development. He
also spoke on industry's biggest media innovations such as road block, talking newspaper and die
cut.
Mr Vipul Kukreja, who has been running his own entrepreneurial venture for over 20 years,
was one of the three speakers in the third session. He also helps businesses expand by bringing in
Star Talent. He reproduced the computer training approach at Silverline Technologies Limited,
but on a far greater scale.
Mr. Kamlesh Keharia, Director of Supply Chain Operations at Emerson Climate Technologies
Private Limited, was the second speaker, followed by Mr. Makarand Kulkarni, Director of
Supply Chain Operations at Emerson Climate Technologies Private Limited. He has worked in
manufacturing, advanced manufacturing engineering, supply chain, product planning, project
management, and marketing. The workshop was followed by a fun game that tested teamwork
and product design skills. The goal of the game is to throw a chalk from the amphi theatre
without breaking it. The goal of the programme was to foster teamwork while also introducing
them to the corporate world.

Biology is largely descriptive science, not idealized like mathematics, nor succeeding in reducing its science to a small number of basic principles like physics. In recent technological era, it is essential for engineers to mimic biological systems to create products and to monitor/ control biological systems so that they can replace, augment, sustain, or predict chemical and mechanical processes.

‘Biology for engineers’ is the study of combined principles of biology and tools of engineering to create usable, tangible, economically viable products. This course is designed to provide an introduction to that interface, presenting biology from an engineering perspective.
