Looking Beyond Syllabus (LBS)

Looking beyond syllabus was launched in the year 2011 with an aim to expose the students to emerging technologies and opportunities to work as teams on multidisciplinary projects under the mentorship of a faculty member assigned to them.

The main objective of looking beyond syllabus of technical education is to infuse in prospective technocrats the ability to apply basic science and experimentation skills to understand problems in the industry, academia, and humanity at large and be able to develop practical solutions to them by establishing themselves as wholesome professionals in the field of Technology. It also prepares the students to use their skills with a strong base for higher education and acquisition of knowledge to sustain a life-long career in related areas.

A new avatar of Looking Beyond syllabus(LBS), “LBS Championship 2018-19”, this year arose as a competition at Institution level with three rounds of eliminations for the selection of winners. The registration process for the student teams and mentors started on 24 September 2018. With the stupendous response, totally 52 student teams and 32 mentors were registered for the same.

As a part of LBS Championship 2018-19, Round-I competition was held on 10 October 2018. Students are asked to choose any one of the societal problem statement and provide the best feasible solution. During this round, student teams presented their proposed solutions for the chosen societal problem statement within the stipulated time period. The teams were reviewed by expert panels of VESIT Staffs in Room Nos. 523 and 524 from 1 pm to 3 pm.

As a result of LBS Championship 2018-19 Round – 1, totally 34 teams from various branches has been shortlisted for next round along with mentor allocation. Selected teams are then asked to meet their allocated mentors for the further plan of action. LBS Championship of Round-II is expected to be held in the month of January 2019.
